Multi-runtime support with k8s and Kata Containers - Graham Whaley, Intel

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

During this workshop we will discuss the current state of multi-runtime support in Kubernetes, and have a brief look at the commonly available runtimes and their features.
This will be followed by a hands on installation and demonstration including:
- how to configure your Kubernetes cluster to support multiple runtimes.
- How to add Kata Containers as a runtime to a Kubernetes cluster
- how to nominate pods to be run as Kata runtime
- how to exclude pods from being run with Kata

Prerequisites for this course are a reasonable working knowledge of Kubernetes setup and management.

If you wish to actively follow and participate in setting up a cluster with Kata, then you will need
- Access to a Kubernetes >= v1.12 cluster, that you do not mind reconfiguring (i.e. not a live cluster!)
- preferably CRI-O installed as the CRI runtime on the cluster, along with the matching runc as the default container runtime.
