Immutable infrastructure was an idea originally popularised by Netflix, back in 2011. Burn an AMI, test it, use it, rebuild to make changes. As a pattern it is still niche though, despite offering many advantages. It has become the standard way to deliver container, but not entire systems. This talk examines immutability as a model across a range of platforms, and looks at available tooling, including the LinuxKit project. The talk should give an idea of the pros and cons of immutability and how to use the tooling.
