In this presentation you will learn how OpenStack is used by the High
Energy Physics community for research as well as traditional IT.
Kubernetes on OpenStack is the most popular way for CERN researchers to
deploy containers, using Magnum to bootstrap the clusters and then
Manila and Cinder for storage as well as Barbican for secrets. Key
points for users are ease of deployment for clusters and applications.
We will cover all integrations done to integrate Kubernetes with
OpenStack (Manila, Barbican, Cloud provider, Keystone
Authentication) and CERN specific storage systems (CVMFS and EOS). The
last feature that is added to the OpenStack-Kubernetes integration is
autoscaling, leveraging the Kubernetes/Autoscaler and the Magnum
